Through extreme speeds of acceleration on a westward flying aeroplane chasing a setting sun, paradoxically we can finally locate stillness. Within the video installation, viewers rest on foam mats and pause in front of an atmospheric projection on the floor. As a stand-in for the sun that never sets, cloud-like patterns slowly drift, swirl and pixelate in hypnotic rhythms within this meditative space. Behind this beauty, an urgency still pulses in the background, earnestly prompting us to find our solace in slowness and mediate on our present moment. DiCarlo’s desire to reclaim time through imagined poetic system glitches and experiential loopholes become genuine attempts to find transcendence in the everyday.
